Picked up a cheapo tower the other day with this Intel DP67DE motherboard, an i7-2600, and some tiny turd video card in it. Recently pulled an XFX DD HD 6790 from my gaming rig with plans to sell it, only to discover it's worth about 30-40 bones. Figured I'd cram it in this new tower, but of course it's a weird tower and my Corsair blah blah something something power supply doesn't fit. So now I figure I'll get a cheapo case with some better cooling that will fit my power supply, MB, and some more fans. Before I go spend more money though, is that GPU even compatible with that MB? Found a post on some forum that said no, but the question was barely English, and the answer wasn't much better.

Solution
Your motherboard has a PCIe 16X connector. So your GPU is compatible with your motherboard. But that GPU is only slightly better than a R7 250. So you'll would not see that much performance. Also it'll require a PSU with 2X PCIe 6 pin connectors. Don't see whether it's worth it.

It's not a 6970. It's a 6790 which is equal to more or less a R7 250

So I might as well use it if I have it, eh? I'll start case shopping, thanks all
