I have a GTX 970 paired with an fx 6300 and I am seeing bottlenecks in almost all games. I was wondering if I would see an improvement if I just upgraded my cpu to an i5 6500 and return my gtx 970 and use my old 750 ti. Would it be worth it or not?
Nah a FX6300 + GTX970 would be better than an i5 + 750ti. I would keep the 970, and save until you can upgrade to Intel. You could sell your GTX750ti, FX6300, and motherboard to help with costs.

microcenter has the i5 6500 at 190 and when paired with a mobo I get $40 off and with the ram in total I would pay $240 with $68 left .. would this be a good deal to return my gpu and I guess in a way not worry about bottleneck and instead save up for pascal?
Yeah that seems like a good deal. You could probably do better with an i5 4590. Microcenter usually has it for $159. You should be able to get a decent B85 or H97 motherboard for $60-70 more and you could keep your ddr3 RAM.

So to wrap things up I should return my GTX 970 , get myself the i5 4590 and a mobo ($212) and use my old 750 ti, and wait for pascal instead. Also thanks for helping me, I appreciate it

NOO that is not what people are telling you. keep the 970. and upgrade to a intel cpu. and use the sale of your amd cpu mobo to offset the cost of the intel cpu/mobo
no do not sell your 970. that is the only piece you should keep. its the only think not holding you back. upgrading your cpu will not help if you sell your 970
I already told him that the FX6300 + GTX970 would outperform an i5 + GTX750ti even though the FX6300 bottlenecks the 970. I also mentioned the selling of the old parts to help with the costs.
