Hello everyone. I was just wondering about the voltage power factor on overclocking, plotting a possible scenario when there is bad weather and a power outage is highly possible, how will this affect the computer in general? My cpu is overclocked thus it requires more power from the psu, will this damage even more my computer if power is cut off immediately? or will it damage the computer in general only when power comes back on and the computer is plugged in?

Thanks!!

1| When we're talking of overclocking it's not advised to leave a system connected to the wall when the power cuts. Should the system be connected tot eh wall, it's possible that a power spike could damage the PSU. If it's a reliable and robust unit then the PSU will refine that spike, clean it up and provide the necessary power to your system though it just adds more stress to your PSU. So in a nutshell all teh abuse fromt eh wall socket goes through to the PSU, should the PSU die it will only go out silently and not damage any of your components provided it's a branded + reliable unit. If it's a cheap knock off then your entire system can go off like fireworks or worse take out your investments.

2| You should be worried enough to buy...

2| You should be worried enough to buy a surge protector or UPS as this will ensure your system is fed power, enough, to get you to shut down your system after you've saved your critical work.

You may want to pass on your full system's specs just in case.
