Hello all!

My friend has been having trouble with her laptop for which when she plays Warframe or another game and sometimes watching YouTube her computer will become slow and power off unexpectedly. This started in December. The first time this happened, she got the error DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE but hasn't happened since. I have an idea of what's going on and am going to update her driver software today but I want to hear what the community thinks.

Cheers,

Not just blown out. It needs to be opened up by a professional can very carefully cleaned. Human or pet dander can accumulate and 'insulate' the cooling system. Is the game that is causing problems new, or has is run satisfactorily in the past?

Need full system specs. Issue can be a bad power supply, too much heat, failing video card, motherboard, CPU. Laptop shutting down on it's own is not likely to be a software issue.

Hello all,

I appreciate your responses. I do not have the full system specs but here's what I can tell you off hand right now. She has both an AMD processor and AMD graphics in her laptop. We are suspecting it is the graphics driver causing the problem. Though, today, I tried updating her drivers and her graphics and rest of them were up to date. On Tuesday I will be running a stress test to see how her cards react under big loads . I am suspecting it is thermal throttling as I have come across that problem before. Once I can get more info I will let you guys know. If it is not the graphics card then I suspect it is a different piece of hardware as if one fails or malfunctions it can lead to other issues.

Cheers.

As it is, I'm not her so I have no idea. I doubt it has ever been blown out though. I will tell her to blow it out over the weekend. The laptop is just over 2 years I think she said.

She said that it ran perfectly fine until about December where then she got the error DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE once and hasn't since but whenever she's playing the game and occasionally watching YouTube it shuts down without warning.

Yeah I'm gonna definitely clean her computer out. Like I said before, I am going to run a stress test on Tuesday to see how the hardware responds. I told her to run the sfc /scannow command to see if there are any corrupted system files. I will post results
