Do i need to optimize my SSD or can i just leave it to TRIM

Hi

I have a Samsung EVO 850 250GB with my OS and a few programs and games on that i use the most then all my other stuff is a on a Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 7200rpm.

The SSD came with Samsung Magician which i really like, really informative.

I have had my SSD for 2 months now, just wondering if i should click the performance optimization button yet or should i leave everything be?

Cheers

Hello... It's fun to try... back in the Old days of less than 1GB ram... it was very easy to Do... And see how slow the Pagefile.sys with a IDE HD would try to manage all the memory and programs open. B ) Yes 8gb RAM right now is the building minimum for the OS.
A pagefile is just some space reserved on the SSD (or HDD) that is used to write the contents of RAM that was recently used but needs to be moved off of the RAM because you are running out of space on the current RAM due to opening new apps, webpages, etc. As space frees up on the RAM, the contents of the pagefile will be written back to the RAM.

Using Task Manager, if you are not using all of the 8GB of RAM you have then the pagefile won't be used.

Hello... It is HD/SSD space set a side to use as Program/APP RAM... every time you start a process it will use RAM memory. IF you start to exceed your 8gb, the OS will start to use the slower HD/SSD storage. I run 16gb ram and don't use Pagefile.sys because I never exceed/open programs that exceed my 16GB.
BY default Windows will create a Pagefile.sys for your OS... go to Control panel-System-advanced system settings-advanced-Performance settings-advanced-Virtual memory.
My first computer had 4MB of RAM and this was a useful tool back then... 8GB -16Gb ram seem to be a sweet spot right now for typical use, and smooth OS operation.
