I got a gtx 970 and it requires a pcie 6 and 8 pin and my power supply has the connection for it but all in one set of cables could I just plug both connectors in with the one array of cables? It has the plug in then it has more plugins later along the cable. Or do I have to use a totally different set of the cables to get both the 6 pin and 8 pin connected

what i mean is take your GPU completely out, then plug the HDMI into the mother board and boot without a GPU. When you have the GPU in it disables on board graphics, rendering the display ports on your mother board useless. By removing the GPU it will force your computer to use on board graphics. This will allow you to see if it even posts in the first place.

it could also be your power supply, even if the fans turn on doesnt mean you power supply is working properly and not letting your PC properly boot. If you have a spare power supply try using that. Or if you have a multimeter you can use that.
