Hi, I am new here and wanted a bit of advice.

I have recently purchased an HP ProDesk 490 G2 MT and I am looking upgrade the graphics card to one which can handle games. It does not have use the highest graphics settings or anything like that. My system is as follows:

CPU:
Intel Core i7-4790 @ 3.60GHz

Motherboard:
H-P 21F5, H97 chipset

RAM:
Samsung DDR3 16GB

Operating System:
Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 64-bit

Power Supply:
300W

I realise that the biggest issue is going to be a power supply, also I do not have much of a budget and am new to building PC's so any help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks for looking,
Elliott

What exactly is your budget? Prebuilt PCs generally have poor power supplies and It is just going to be better to subtract from your budget for a cheaper, but still higher quality PSU.

For example:
If your budget was $200, you could buy a $200 gpu and risk it with the psu, OR buy a higher capacity, higher quality, PSU for say $40 and not have as much of a risk of destroying your pc and still have $160 to spend.

This was what I was worried about, I am considering a GTX 750Ti it will apparently run on a 300W system. Although that is apparently the minimum. In all honesty I need to do it as cheaply as possible which is why I have no budget.

Thanks for the help.
