My microphone keeps auto-adjusting itself and I have no idea what's causing the issue.
I use Skype and I've never encountered this issue before until a couple of weeks ago.
I already have my auto adjust option in Skype disabled and the problem persists. I also have my windows settings for my microphone set so that "applications can't take exclusive control of this device" and my communications tab in sound to "do nothing". None of these things work and the problem persists.
I have also uninstalled skype, and found that my microphone was STILL adjusting itself. I've also reinstalled the drivers for my headset and disabled other audio drivers that might've conflicted with the drivers of my headset/microphone.
And the problem STILL continues.
Interestingly enough, my mic seems to work absolutely fine in games such as Dota 2, where people can hear me in-game but my friends on Skype cannot.
Any help would be absolutely appreciated, because it is an absolute pain to have to manually readjust my microphone volume every time I'm in a call in Skype or other voice application.
Update: I just found out something very interesting. I use a gamecom plantronics 780 headset and I have the drivers for this headset directly downloaded from the manufacturers website. I also have two front usb 3.0 ports. The interesting thing here is that, when I have my headset plugged into the left usb port, it utilizes the drivers for the gamecom headset. HOWEVER, when I plug it into the right usb port, it utilizes the default windows audio drivers instead. Obviously, this is very strange for me to see, because shouldn't the headset use its own drivers instead of the default windows ones regardless of where its plugged in? I hope this new bit of detail sheds some light on the problem.
Update 2: So this problem has annoyed me enough to the point where I reinstalled windows to see if it would fix the problem. It did not, the auto microphone adjust still persists.
Update 3: I've still yet to find a vanilla fix for this so I've resorted to something more unorthodox.

The youtube video is a tutorial on how to pseudo-lock microphone volume. It relies on a script that automatically sets the microphone level to whatever the user wishes it to be every 0.5 seconds. The sethioz link may look sketchy but it has no viruses or malware that I'm aware of. The script can be made to automatically start up alongside your operating system, which the video will explain to do. In practice I found that it works completely fine and people that I talk with over calls can now hear me consistently and clearly. If anybody else is at their wits end they may resort to this.
I'm going to keep this thread open because I'm still looking for a true solution to the issue. The above is just a temporary fix for me.
