HP 15‑f272wm 15.6″ Notebook ‑ Pentium N3540 was 4Gb Ram. I upgraded it to 8Gb Ram and now it shuts down. The screen gets all scrambled. Sometimes it won't boot at all. I reseated the RAM and checked all the connections...twice! This thing sucks. You have to remove the whole mother board to upgrade the memory! Bought the RAM from crucial which analyzed the system and said it was the compatible chip.

Turns out the Crucial RAM was the issue. I bought another brand and it's working fine now. I am answering you from that computer now. Seems it just didn't like the Crucial RAM for some reason. I couldn't even get into the BIOS if I wanted to. It was a no go.

I have the HP15 f024wm laptop with the same processor as yours the intel n3540 and just bought an 8GB to upgrade the RAM from the 4GB. after reading this I need to go back and check the brand before it arrives and cancel it if its crucial I guess. But I also just installed a crucial m.2 drive model mx300 525GB and I am now wondering if this laptop is SATA 3.0 or not. hate to think I just put a m.2 drive in a SATA 2.0 slot. Any one know if I am good with the m.2 or not?
