Hi, I just finished building my pc and installed windows.

I turned it off and unplugged all the peripherals and when I went back to it the monitor will no longer come on. Everything else is lighting up, motherboard, graphics card, cooler etc. Ive tried the monitor and hdmi cable elsewhere and both are working so they are not the problem. The motherboard is an msi Z170a. Anyone know why this could be happening?

Update:

Removed my gpu and started it up - no problem, the monitor worked fine. Put it back in and started it up and then no signal to my monitor again. It seems after I installed windows it doesnt like my graphics card. Tried putting it in a different PCIE slot and same problem.

Unless Im securing it wrong? I put the gpu in the slot so the clip at the side went into the home position like when you put RAM chips in, put the 2 screws in at the bracket where all the sockets are and plugged in 2 of the 8-block power supply connections (off the same cable) coming from the PSU. Im not missing anything am I? the graphics card lights up when the computer is turned on

Was plugging into the motherboard directly, but tried both

I have
motherboard z170A xpower gaming titanium edition
samsung 950 pro 512gb ssd
intel i7 6700k quad core processor
ripjaw series V 2x8gb ram
xtr 850 PSU
msi gtx 980ti gaming 6g graphics card
kraken x61 water cooler

I got to the stage where windows 10 pro was installed and logged on then shut it down
