I've saved up about 500 euros and Im looking to uprgrade my pc (gpu and cpu). so my question is which gpu and cpu are the best for the money in my price range. and also wondering if those new parts will be handled by my 450W psu. Current specs- i3 4130, GTX 650 2GB, 8GB RAM and motherboard with i think lga 1150. new cpu needs to go on the same motherboard since it's an useless expense to buy a new one. thanks

Solution
Buy a GTX 970 and call it a day. You don't need a new CPU. If you want to spend it all, consider upgrading to an SSD, Samsung's got a great cloning tool. Lastly, might want to upgrade your power supply, but not sure what's available to you.

You can get an I5, something like the 4690 or even an I7. im not sure what the prices are for you but you should be able to get these within your price range and possibly get a 960GTX 4GB model or even if in your price range the 970.

Im not sure about your psu without knowing which one it is. If its just a generic brand, I personally would upgrade that as well. 450W is very minimal and would likely power your system but if your PSU is junk then your not going to be very happy when it destroys everything hooked up to it. You can get a quality 550W psu for cheap nowadays.

It's a Corsair VS450.

EDIT: Forgot the motherboard. It's an MSI B85-G41 PC Mate(MS-7850)

I could get the i5 for about 240 euros but which GTX 960 would you recommend? Is the Gigabyte GTX 960 Windforce 3X 4GB GDDR5 OC good? It's about the same price as the i5.

Seasonic makes some good power supplies as long as some EVGA products . Evga provides good and bad power supplies . The 500B and 600B are cheap and will get the job done . But if you could I would get a EVGA B2 or G2 . The power supply will last longer .

Are you sure? I thought about that too, but my friend say that my CPU would bottleneck it.

I will get a new PSU with it too, no worries. Probably the one you recommended to me.

Seems good. Which GTX 970 would you recommend? The site I would buy the stuff from also has an offer that you get The Division free with any GTX 970-980.

Suzuki is missinformed . Games for today's standards require 4 cores as were that I3 will struggle to provide the GTX 970 enough horsepower . The GTX 970 has a .5Gb memory slow down causing it to have 3.5GB really . So that's why I'd recommend the R9 380X as its newer and is going to be better in the future .

Well, now I don't know who to trust. :D

I will buy a new psu anyway, I've had this one for maybe 3 years now and I am going to get a new motherboard and an AMD processor in a couple of months.

But which GTX 970 would you guys recommend?

XFX 550W is a good one, Seasonic OEM, the new EVGA GQ are also solid if you're going for a SLI build, but might not still be on sale.

You should trust both. I've seen worse PSU's that haven't burned any buildings down, as would the PC elitist call it.

@Mac070, I'm educated in this field. I wouldn't spread misinformation on purpose. Last thing I want is OP to feel insecure with a purchase, but don't go out saying that Tier 1 PSU's, again as the elitists call it, are the only viable options on the market, that's flat out wrong.

Check out the link I posted . I have proof that the power supply is crap. I don't really like the GTX 970 but which one ? I would go with EVGA as its the oem for Nvidia just like sapphire is the oem for AMD . Remember there is a ram slow down (.5GB )

Couldn't find the XFX 550W ANYWHERE or any of the others that you recommended. I live in the baltic region so ordering it off of amazon would be crazy expensive shipping wise.

We would need a website to look at then. We don't know what's available to you. There's a PSU tier list on Tom's that you can take a look at, but use it as guidelines rather than a rule. People who don't have much experience are the ones that can confuse you. People are still using Corsair's CX series PSU's without any problems, just look up the reviews on Amazon for instance. However, it's easy to get carried away. If one guy says something bad, everybody repeats it.
