hello,

a friend of me contacted me about suddenly not finding his 5.0Ghz channel anymore.
his laptop, mobile phone etc all can connect with the 5.0Ghz except his desktop.
he always was connected to 5.0Ghz and he did not change any configuration of it.
i took his NIC to my place and connected it with my computer and i can find the 5.0Ghz.
i do have a different ISP but i think the ISP is not the problem here. from my point of view
but i dont have that much knowledge of networking.
maybe the 5.0Ghz cirquit on the PCE slot on the motherboard may be faulty?

anyway, the NIC can see the 5.0Ghz but just cant connect, it tries to but then just picks the 2.4Ghz without any error message or anything.

he has the ASUS pce-ac68

if u need more info about this problem feel free to ask me.

Go to the hardware manufacturer's web site. Download and install their latest driver for the card. Don't rely on Windows to automatically get the correct driver. Windows works most of the time, but not always. Particularly for Windows 10 with older wifi cards, although this card is not old. Then get right next to the router when connecting to eliminate other problems.

Alternately, check every antenna to be sure each has a tight connection.
