Hi all.

I edited the question as I realised I didn't put a link to a parts list.

I am looking to build my first gaming PC and was hoping to get some sound advice to check if my research is on the right track. I'm in the UK. Will probably be buying in the next few days depending on if I have the specs correct. I have just got into PCs from consoles and got stung on a buy before so I thought I would try my luck at building my own. Hopefully it will work. At the minute I have only played farm sim 15 on PC but farm sim 17 is out this year and I am looking at some other titles to play on the PC. I would like to try SW KOTOR again on the PC.
All the parts listed are of part picker UK.

CPU- I5 4690k 3.5ghz
CPU cooler- Corsair H75 54.0 cfm liquid CPU cooler
Mobo- Gigabyte GA Z97MX gaming 5 mATX
Memory- G Skill Trident x 16gb (2x8gb) DDR3 1600mhz CAS7
Storage- HDD WD10 Caviar blue 1TB 7200rpm
SSD Samsung SM951 128gb M.2-2280
SSD Samsung 750 EVO 250gb
GPU- GTX 970 4gb
Case- Raijintek STYX
PSU- Seasonic 520w 80+ Platinum fully modular fanless
Optical drive- LG GS40N DVD/CD Writer
Case fans- Corsair Air series 52.2 CFM 120mm x 2

I hope I'm right with the selection but not positive. If anyone could have a look and let me know if I could alter anything. I wasn't sure about the 2 Samsung SSDs as in would I need the two or would it be a waste.
It will be running on windows 10. I will also be running 3 x Acer 27" screens. The GPU specs say it has a 500w requirement minimum so will the 520w be enough. Not looking to overclock at the minute but may do later if any games need more juice.

Kind Regards.

its great / you can be very happy with your build alto,

1) why not got with the 250gb evo and a 1tb hdd?
2) why the haswell build? skylake is the same price and newer?
3) why the seasonic 520w plat fanless its the best psu dont get me wrong but why dont u get a 650w psu?(thats also great quality)

Hi

I have changed a few things and the SSD is one. Could you look at this one and see what you think.
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Willbobber/saved/wgLzK8

I didn't look at the skylake. To be honest I was going to take some parts out of another PC but now decided to start from ground up. My first build and all. So I could go with skylake but would I have to change MOBO as well.
The sea sonic was just because I looked on the tier list and it was on there. I have read a few posts that the PSU is sometimes overlooked and underrated so I made sure I got what I thought would be a good one. I did have a concern that the PSU might be a problem as it has no fan in a small case so would it have issues with the passive heating.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Regards.

+ 80 pounds for the psu http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-Supernova-Modular-Power-Supply/dp/B00V5EDNRM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458990452&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+supernova+650+gs

-important when u install the lan with this motherboard coose only to just install the drivers, not the killer thrash that comes withr it(full))

the pwoer supply is the best that is available for consumers heck , if it wasnt low wattage i would go for it, (if there is a 620w version and u can afford it go for it for sure no doubts) the peformance and build quality is excellent

Hi Superninja

Thanks for that. I will have a look at that part list later. Would you go for the R9 390x over the GTX 970? I thought the GTX would be a better option.

Hi.

I thought the 970 supported 3 screens. Or is it that the R9 supports them better. Just curious as it's all new to me.

I haven't really got a budget as such. I just tried to do a lot of research and put a list together that will be good performance for a range of games that I would usually play on Xbox and my son wants to play and mod farm sim. I also wanted to get parts that won't want to be replaced for a while.

Regards.

Hi Superninja

I looked at the Kingston furys the specs say they are cas 14. I thought that I needed a lower cas number as much as possible.
Also the R9 only has 1 display port. How would I run the other 2 monitors.

Regards.
