I would agree with wpgwpg. You need to provide some more information.
Can you access it or read it? In case you can access it in some way, you can try to back up the data that you need.
After that, you can test it with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
In case you have a spare USB cable around, it will not hurt to attach the drive with that one as well.
