I recently bought a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 Rev 4.0 used off ebay. I wanted to push my FX-6350 as close to 5Ghz as I could with my H105 cooler. It posts and I can run windows. However, I cannot overclock AT ALL on this board! Whenever I try to change the CPU ratio or multiplier, as well as the voltage, nothing happens. Normally a window would pop up and I would be able to change those settings, but they are all set to "Auto" and I cannot change them AT ALL.

I have tried:
clearing CMOS
Flashing the most recent BIOS setting F3. This did nothing.
Flashing from F3 to F1. This did nothing.
Flashed back to F3 and still nothing. I have tried disabling some power management settings and turning turbo core off. Nothing.

Even Easy Tune 6 is a no go, i get asked to restart if I change my settings too much. I restart, and my BIOS says there was a boot failure and I have to reset to defaults.
Please help, If I cannot overclock on this board there is no point in having it and I would be pretty distraught. Any help???

Solution
That's because you are unfamiliar with UEFI bios. Those settings that say Auto, that you think you can't change, don't have pop up menu options. You need to either hit plus or minus, which will scroll through various optional settings, or enter the value manually by clicking in that field box and typing what you want there then hitting enter. Hitting enter is necessary if you want the setting to stick on settings that do not have preset values which change when pressing the plus or minus keys. Even on those that do change using those keys, you can generally just enter the value directly into the field and then hit enter.

If may default to a higher or lower, or back to what it was set at before, value, if the value you enter is not a...

If may default to a higher or lower, or back to what it was set at before, value, if the value you enter is not a valid value. Try again and see how it goes.

*facepalm* I tried the plus and minus (not on num pad) but pageup and pagedown are what do it! Thanks so much, I spent litterally 3 hours trying to fix this, it's quite sad really. I think what messed me up was my AsRock 970 Extreme 3 R2.0 had a UEFI BIOS too, but I had to hit enter and select from a list for most options.

Thanks again.

Just out of interests sake, can u pls let us know how high you land up being able to overclock that CPU? Cheers :)

Same MB but Rev 1.1 and same processor @4.8 GHz and <1.4v. 24/7 no problem. Got it going @5.0GHz but needs >1.5v.
