OC gave me a huge boost in CPU intensive game

gtx 970
i5 4690k
8gb ram
120ssd
19" LCD 1280x1024 monitor
windows 7 ultimate

The game is Company of Heroes + Blitzkrieg mod. BK mod adds more units, explosions effects and many other cpu intensive tasks which makes it very cpu demanding. It is very interesting that when it starts to lag the framerate is 57fps+ meaning it's no video card type lag. It's cpu stutter type lag.

As you can see from this first video, at the begging of the game when few units on the field its smooth as butter. (Youtube decreased the video quality of the video, probably because i compressed the video but you can see the difference)

But when more units show up meaning more cpu tasks, the stutter starts to show up. You can see that the fps is very good 50+, without fraps is 57+ so it's not the video card based lag, you can see how little the video card is used ~20%, the cpu is ~50% but thats because of fraps, without it its a lot less and only one core is used more than the rest.

Why did i posted in the Overclocking section, well because on the lag video the cpu is at 3.5 GHz no turbo boost activated, but when i OC the CPU to 4.7Ghz/1.3V i get maybe 40-50% smoother gameplay when many units on the field.

BUT it's still not enough, i still dont get buttery smooth gameplay as in the beginning of the game, so my question is, is there any other way besides OC to speed up the CPU speed or other methods so i can get smooth gameplay the entire game? Or do i need a 6ghz CPU for this particular mod? Some one suggested it might be that i dont have enough ram, but i don't understand why when i OC the CPU i get a performance increase, it has nothing to do with ram, also there are only 4gb used out of 8, what happened with the rest?

Thanks

Your OC is very good.
I do not see an option to improve on that.

One thing you might do is to check on malware.
Run malwarebytes free edition.

How full is your ssd? 120gb gets filled quickly.
If it is 90% full, get a larger one.
There may well be parts of the game that need fast drive access.

I can't improve anyway, at 4.8 i get BSOD.

Clean windows install, i don't even have an antivirus so no mw

After i installed windows on the SSD, the next thing i installed after drivers was the game+mod so it was as empty as it could be, now its a bit more filled up but the lag was there even when the ssd was empty, also i don't see more of lag now that it's more filled, it's the same.

Also it's the same if i run the game from the HDD, if it was the SSD/HDD then i should see more lag since the HDD is slower.

I think you are maxed.
Probably the fastest cpu available today would be the i5-6600K with an oc to the 4.8 range.
That might give you a bit more between the higher clock and the more efficient IPC.
Not hardly worth it seems to me.
Later this year Kaby lake is coming which is supposed to be an improvement, but there are only rumors.

No because the lag comes with more units/activity on the field, on 4v4 games it's the worst, on 1v1,2v2 its smooth as butter, on 3v3 is ~80% of time smooth as butter with OC, without it's less. So it's resources based lag. I need more power! :)

why i5 6600k and not the i7 6700k?
