Help me choose an external hard disk.

Help me choose between WD My Passport 1 TB or Sony HD B1 1 TB.. I am really confused. WD is big name in Hard disk industry but sony hd b1 also has many positive reviews and a video claiming it to be more sturdy than WD one. Both have same specs, warranty and price. Please help me choose. Also there is one other sony model HD E1/B, how is it different from HD B1

Only Seagate, WD, and Toshiba actually make HDDs. Everyone else buys drives from one of those three companies and resells them. It's just that certain companies have more fanbois who rate them up (especially true of Apple - can't help but laugh at the number of Apple fanbois who think Samsung products suck, when Apple uses or has used Samsung's SSDs and flash memory, RAM, screens, and processors).

That said, it's possible you *may* get better aftermarket support from Sony than from the actual manufacturer. I tried to find out who the actual manufacturer is, but a Google search wasn't able to turn up anyone who's opened up that particular drive.
