I wanted to buy a pair of monitors , I am on a low budget.

I am new to monitors and also i casually try to make songs. I will be using these for mostly multimedia listening. i heard about passive and active monitors , it would be great if you could tell me what they are? and I won't be using anyother equipments like amps with these. Pls keep them under $120. Thank you!
