i have a lenovo g510 with an intel core i5 4200m.
it claims to reach 3.1GHz from 2.5 GHz. It reached 3.0GHz in high performance mode but dropped back to 2.5GHz when i ran a game.

Solution
It's likely that the game may not need that much processing power to run a game. Most games currently are not limited by modern CPUs.

Unless you're suffering performance problems related to the CPU, you're probably fine.

thank you for answering
the game is far cry 4 and it needs a quad core and im running a dual core. so how do i keep the processor at 3.0GHz. because it keeps going back to 2.5 when i open the game.

Removing the battery isn´t recomended as it will turn the laptop to a stationary computer. Connect power would help. And remember Turbospeeds are only to help when the workloads are high..

BUT THE THING IS ....WHEN THE PROCESSOR HAS NOTHING RUNNING ITS 3.0GHz and when something is running the frequency drops back

Then I would say whatever tool you're using to measure clock speed is flawed, or you're seeing spikes, not a constant rate. Even on my 4690k @ 4.5ghz it will occasionally hit the full 4.5ghz mark then go back down.
