Should I get a higher wattage PSU?

Hi there!

I've used some power supply calculators to try and see if I need a new PSU for something I want to attempt in the near future.

I've noticed that they always say "recommended PSU" and never do a minimum and maximum, which leaves me to believe that that's the amount of wattage you absolutely need. But I don't know.

Here are my current specs:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-UD5
CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k @ 4.0 GHz (No overclock)
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti
HDD: 3x SATA 7200 RPM
SSD: 1x 500 GB Samsung 850 EVO
RAM: 2x8 GB DDR4 2666 MHz Corsair Vengeance
WLAN: TP-LINK Archer T-9E PCI-E
PSU: EVGA 80 PLUS Bronze 600W Active

What I want to do is add in a 660 Ti. Now I know that after reading that you're screaming "THAT DOESN'T WORK YOU IDIOT!" But I don't want to use it for SLI or anything like that. No, I want to do this so I can virtualize an OS with GPU passthrough to get the most performance I can out of it.

The PSU calculators seem to recommend a 650 watt PSU. Which I do have a 900 watt lying around, but I don't really want to use it, mainly because it draws so much power and pops the breaker often when running with the air conditioner in this room. So my basic question is, can I get away with a 600 watt PSU, and more importantly SHOULD I? Because I honestly don't know the effects of under-wattage, but I imagine it would be pretty bad.

If you guys think I should just suck it up and buy a 700 watt PSU, let me know.

Solution
Putting 2 cards in a same system isn't always a signal for SLI, you can use one as gaming card, the another as PhysX dedicated card.

About PSU, yes, i would recommend upgrading to 700w. (980Ti for base recommended is 650W)

Oh you can do that? I love learning new things! But I see. Mmm, ah decisions decisions... Thanks for the info though!
