Giving a price range might narrow down possible choices. You could easily get an awesome graphics card for $800+

Also, what is the purpose of the computer? If gaming, what game did you want to run and what quality would you be satisfied with?

I know this post is old but I just upgraded my Dell Inspiron from a Nvidia Geforce 745 gtx to a 1050 gtx ti both of them required a 300 watts powersupply box but the stock 240 watts in the system had no problem with neither card.

Curios but how did you power the new GTX with the PSU not having the 2 6 prong plugs? asking because i just ordered this and will need to replace the vid card when i get it

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 ti doesn't require a external connection to the motherboard, it is powered through the pci express slot.

I'm thinking about getting a 1050 for my inspiron also but wasn't sure if the psu could handle a video card like that or maybe I should scale down to a smaller version of the 960 or 750

The 1050 tI run off the PCI Express slot and doesn't require a lot of power nor external power connector.

As derryl said, even a 1050ti would work. But again though, there are ones with a pcie power cable needed so get one that doesn't have one. If you still have more questions, feel free to make your own thread. This needs to stop getting bumped so I'm closing it.
