i7 6700k gtx970 16gb ram and SSD and still having low fps(120 drops to 40 and go up again to 60) in csgo?
and yes I turn off vsync update all my drivers and all of that... PLZ HELP!!!!

Solution

As he wrote it was a temp problem, he solved this with buying a watercooler. I can suggest everyone with a 6700k to buy the noctua nh-d15. Its probably the best and does less noise then a watercooler. (Not talking about custom ones)

Contra: its massive :)

For others with this problem: Check temps, check voltage(you can reduce temps with setting vcore for cpu in bios on fixed 1.2@stock clock - my asus z170 pro gaming as example set the stock voltage automaticly at 1.38 - way to much and big temp impact, update bios, clean install drivers (dd uninstall)

I posted this in another thread and it seemed to help:

Hey there! I seem to be having the same issue as you.

Some solutions I've been told to try that may help you (didn't fix my problem but have helped others):

Changing your power settings in the Nvidia control panel to "Performance" instead of "Adaptive."
Uninstalling Nvidia drivers using DDU and reinstalling them.
Reverting back to an earlier driver
Resetting CMOS
Fresh install of Windows (fixed my issue until I installed the "Important Windows Updates").

We'll figure this out and get back to our glorious 60+FPS!
I hope these help! Keep us updated!

Ah man, sorry about that.
I ended up taking my PC to a computer repair shop because I just couldn't figure it out.
They're 90% sure it's my motherboard, which I don't doubt. I've had to RMA this thing twice in the last 4 months. So right now, I'm trying to see if I can get a refund instead of another refurbished board that will stop working in a week.

Wishing you the best!

I just got a new motherboard and installed it last night. So far, my FPS is back to where it should be. *crosses fingers* Seemed like my issue was a motherboard one. Hoping yours is not the same issue; it's a pain.

Is it just csgo? Have you done any stress test like prime95 or any similar bench for CPU and GPU stress test? Even 10 minute run should be enough to tell if you have power delivery problems. Because if csgo is not the only thing where your setup struggles, then the problem is somewhere in power delivery to CPU or GPU. For now we can only speculate what is wrong, because no information provided on how your CPU or GPU perform in separate stress tests. For CPU you can run prime95,for GPU you can do valley bench or any bench that you can get your hands on.
If you did provide that info and I missed it, I apologize.
I have similar setup as yours, only CPU is different (i7 5820k) and in CSGO at 1920x1080p maxed out I get around 270fps in competitive +/- 20fps.
