Just built:
Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha Mobo
Intel i7 6700k CPU
G.Skill DDR4-3400 PC4-27200, 8192MB x 4 Memory Sticks
nVidia GTX 980TI GPU
Swiftech H240 X2 CPU Cooler
Samsung 840 256 Gig SSD

First power-up, no video, Q code shows 55 (no memory installed). Re-seated all 4 DIMMs, no change. Tried 2 DIMMMs in A2, B2, no change. Tried 1 DIMM in A1, still no change (Q code 55). Took advice from one earlier forum posting - installed 2 DIMMs in B1, B2. Video came up with BIOS screen, however, Memory type/frequency WRONG (shows 2133MHz) should be 3400MHz...BIOS version is 0205 x64.

While this is my fourth Asus ROG mobo, I've never encountered any problems with previous Asus mobos - especially like this. Can someone PLEASE advise me as to whether this problem is a defective motherboard, or do I need a BIOS update or what else could it be. I am ready to call Asus and find out what the heck is going on, but I wanted to check in with Tom's forum first for a possible solution. Please reply if you can assist me - and thank you in advance

Solution
Check the BIOS version - latest is 1504. If only the B channel seems to work, the cooler may be too tight in a corner or side, try loosening then snugging down screw tight. Also for 3400 may need a bit of an OC on the CPU, and will need to enable XMP to run full 3400

As stated - 4 x 8MB DDR4 3400 G. Skill DIMMs but only 2 will work if installed in B1 and B2 slots, otherwise Q code 55. I do not overclock anything. I have not attempted to download BIOS update since the Asus motherboard is less than 30 days old from Newegg. Thank you for your reply...
