Hello!
Recently, I've taken an interest in learning how to use Linux. I've made a few bootable USB's (some more successful than others) and have become interested in using Linux as my main operating system, temporarily.

Am I able to install Linux on my computer (as in completely wipe Windows from my C: drive)
and once I have a better understanding of Linux, use my Windows 7 CD and the same activation key when I'm ready to turn back to Windows?

Yes. I know I can set up a virtual machine.
No. I don't want to.

Thank you in advance!

Solution
A 'sure answer' depends on MS, and what specific license you have.
Reinstalling on the same hardware should work. At the worst, you might have to call and get it activated again.
But since it is the same hardware, should be no problem.

I'm looking for a bit more of a sure answer, I'd rather not invalidate my activation key if I can avoid it...

As for why I don't want a VM, preference. It's a bit on the finnicky side, and it honestly seems to run awfully on my computer. I'd much rather just use Linux as my main OS, as I'm working on learning it.
But, if it'll invalidate my activation key, I can work with live USB's.

I've also been considering doing a clean install of Windows, Spring Cleaning. So if it won't mess with my activation key, so I can reinstall 7 at a later time, and use Linux for now, that'd be fantastic.
