Hello everyone, I have this annoying problem, my laptop doesn't switch graphics cards anymore, i'm stuck with Intel Core I3 380m integrated one.

I tried reinstalling the windows from windows 7 all the way to windows 10. Tried disabling, unistaling, reinstaling the graphics drivers, searched far and wide... (i've been trying to fix this for like 3 weeks).

I usually use my computer, but given the circumstances i'm forced to be on my laptop for a certain period of time, and i haven't used it in a long time... and usually just used it for AutoCad.

While this isn't a problem with youtube and facebook, i can't use anything that require a little more graphic juice... like autocad and games

My laptop is HP Pavilion g6-1012sq Notebook PC

3 GB ram, Intel core I3, Ati Radeon HD 7400m

is there any way to fix this?

i know that the graphic cards must switch around automated, intel when i'm using docs and facebook and ati radeon when i start games and stuff.

Please help me... it's driving me insane that i can't use this laptop for anything else than facebook.... i hate facebook.

There *is* a chance that the spec sheet is wrong. All the same, I'd try going to the AMD website and downloading the driver for the 6470M. Make sure you at least uninstall the old drivers through the Control Panel first. If you want to be really thorough, uninstall the 7400M driver with DDU ( http://www.wagnardmobile.com/?q=display-driver-uninstaller-ddu- ) before installing.

If you look in your BIOS, do you see any options to toggle off/on integrated or dedicated graphics, or a setting called "Enduro"? On an HP laptop, you can usually access the BIOS by pressing F10 immediately after you turn it on.

No such option in BIOS, even tried updating the BIOS, but nothing.

Thank you for trying to help me, but i think i haven't been detailed enough and i wasted a bit of your time.

I did try some solutions, I did watch the 3rd video you posted. But it's not as easy for me unfortunately.

First of all

When i go to Device Manager -> Display Adapters -> i can see AMD Radeon HD 7400M series, but the intel one is just this: Intel(R) HD Graphics , when i think it should be something like Intel(R) HD graphics 380m...i mean in every video photo there are more details than just HD Graphics.

Second:

When i right click on desktop i don't have any Switchable Graphics options, just AMD Catalys control Center

Third:

When i go into AMD Catalys Control Center i don't have any actual options, I do have :
*Pinned: AMD Home
*Presets: Add preset...
Manage Presets....
*Information: AMD Home
Software
Hardware
Software Update

Nothing for power, or graphics...it's like....it's not a complete control center only the skin and not the core.

Like i have said, i reinstaled the windows a couple of time, on W7 i can't even instal the drivers, i mean i instal, it appears as a succesfull instal i restart the laptop and when i go to Device manager nothing...

On windows 10 while the drivers appear installed in divice manager(sometimes) i don't get any icons in the tool bar or any aditional options when i right click on desktop

So while the drivers appear installed on windows 8, it's like...they are not completly installed.

I tried reinstaling them a bunch of times, downloading from different sources, using HP utilty program that is supposed to search for drivers automaticaly(doesn't work), the intel one does'nt work either.... the AMD one kinda works on windows 8.1, but as you can see not fully.

I hope i was more detailed, and sorry for wasting your time until now.

Hmm, look at the specs for your laptop here:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5046257/model/5081120/document/c02767420/

Notice that it says the laptop comes with a Radeon HD *6470M*, not a 7470M. Are you sure you downloaded the right Radeon driver? The 6470M may actually be a legacy GPU now, and not covered by the main driver download.

Hey, thank you for all your help, it seems that all those "My Specs" programs actually did me more harm than good... i did manage to find an older driver for my graphics card and now it works just fine. The devil is in the details ....
