My old man asked me to plan a system for him to run World of Warcraft and Total War: Warhammer with a £1000 budget. The system as it currently stands is this:
CPU: I5-6600k
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D15
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970
Mobo: Asus Maximus VIII Hero
Ram: Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 2400MHz
PSU: Fractal Design Newton R3 800W '80 Plus Platinum'
HDD: Seagate 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
The system is under budget, just needing him to decide if he cares about the look of his case. My only concerns would be:
Will the RAM fit under the fan? I am well aware of how comically oversized the fan is and had issues getting my d-14 to go with my own ram and to my horror managed to kill a ddr4 stick trying to get the heat sink off and would rather not repeat the same mistake.
Will the PSU manage with a second HDD?
Any thoughts / help appreciated
