Should I hold off on buying the FX-8320 and R9 380 4GB?

I've heard from someone that there's going to be new AMD cards this year and I should hold off on buying the R9 390, which i'm getting for about $200. Should I be waiting? Will there be a better card in the range of $200-$250? Also I wanted to get the FX-8320 but people keep showing that games don't utilize it properly and I should wait for the new AMD processors to come out this summer. Won't those processors be much more expensive or will a current CPU drop in price (most likely)? The 8320 is $140 through Amazon, I don't want to go over $175.

Any of these questions answered is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

AMD will release new GPU's arond April-May, if you should wait or not depends on your needs, there's always gonna be something better coming out around the corner. If you're going to be just gaming, get a Haswell or Skylake I5. This is pure speculation, but i think both for the GPU's and CPU's, they are gonna release high end products first, and then the more affordable ones, but who knows, maybe you could get a good GPU with the release of Pascal for $200.

If i were you i'd wait, just because it's a few weeks away and in the worst case prices will stay the same so...why not? Still, it's your choice

AMD claimed they don't want to focus on being the more affordable option, rather the better performing option. Am I in over my head expecting them to release a $200 card? If so, what's a card slightly above $200 that's better than the R9 380? (Intel)

Unfortunately, there isn't. I was in the same position a few months ago, i wanted a better performing card than the 380 since i had the extra money but the next step is the 390 which is like $100 more, there's no middle ground. Well, there actually is a middle model, the 380x, but the performance increase for what you're paying is not worth it imo.

I doubt AMD won't release $200 cards since cards around the $200-$300 are the ones that sell the most, take the 970 for example. So i don't think you're over your head, they most probably will release a $200 gpu, not sure when.

I think there's a good chance i'll go with the i5-4690k and the GTX 970 4GB. I hate having to spend the extra $150, but it's not that big of a deal in the long run. Plus, these two are one seriously bad ass combo. For the price you can play The Division over 60 FPS. Beautiful.

Will the 390 outperform the 970 with the i5?

The OP didn't say anything about playing on a 4K monitor. For all intents and purposes an R9 390 and GTX 970 are about the same performance-wise @ 1080p or 1440p. The fact that the GTX 970 uses 100W less power while gaming is what sealed the deal for me (my computer room gets a bit hot in the summer - less heat dumped into it the better).

Well yeah, they perform pretty much the same, but the 390 has the edge, 5%-10% depending on the game, that's like 5 more frames which isn't such a big deal but they are around the same price, so why not?
You could OC to match the 390 performance but you would be losing Nvidia's only advantage, which is power consumption
