hi folks,

here is my problem with my recently re-assembled "old" system:

when i powered it down without unpluging electricty and power up again mobo does not post. no beep (have a buzzer), all fans are spining, hdd-cdrom leds wont blinks. it stays like that forever.

i plug it off. hit the power switch to drain leftover current on it and plug it again, then hit power switch. again no post first but this time hdd-cdrom leds (both of it) blinks with regular intervals (it seems like mobo is trying to say sth to me than a read/write situation. nothing related on manual). it waits like that 5-8 minutes (i think mobo waits for some timout - don't know what for) and all of sudden gives post beep and begin to show regular splash screen and boots to windows.

when once it powers on and boots like this, a soft reset doesn't induce this -late posting- issue. it post normally. only hard reset is problemful.

i was having a drained cmos battery issue before all this but changed it to a new one. bios is now able to keep system time accurate when pc is plugged off so new battery is ok.

also read tomshardware's no post troubleshooting sticky and checked all the steps. (breadbording, insulating mounting points of mobo etc.) plus updated my bios with usb flash drive via asus ez flash utility succesfully. tried with another known working psu and other memory sitcks. tried cmos reset with related jumper.

boot prioties are ok. only os harddrive is in there. disabled other devices.

system specs:

asus m4a78 - vm
athlon x2 7850
2 gb kingston kvr800 ddr2 800 mhz (2x1gb)
80gb sata

sory for bad english. it's my second language. thanks for your time.

You forgot to include your OS as well as the PSU in the above system's specs. You should also mention the secondary PSU that your used to rule out there is no power issues involved. By any chance are you on Windows 10? Judging from the age of your system I'd say you performed an upgrade to it or that your PSU is the likely culprit. On a side note, are you on BIOS version 2101?
