Hi all,
I have an Asus Direct cu II 770 that only works when pressure is applied to it, such as lightly pinching either side of the card (not sure if this is a terrible idea!) It worked fine in my current setup for about 17 months, then one day this issue randomly appeared.
If untouched, the problem occurs most of the time. One of three things occur:
- Windows never displays past the boot up screen
- If Windows does show mostly normally, device manager says it stopped the 770 due to an error. There are also usually little artifacts on the screen.
- Sometimes Windows boots but the screen shows lots of green artifacts all over the screen.
Each of these is usually eventually followed by a bsod.
If the problem does not occur (either when lightly pinched or randomly), it usually works flawlessly and can run any game with no issues etc. Also, with the card removed the PC works fine.
So I'm thinking there is some kind of contact problem with the card. It could also be the motherboard, but unfortunately I don't have any other parts to test with right now. The card is still in warranty, but I'm currently out of the warranty area and will be a pain to send back.
Any ideas other than to send it for repair/replacement?
Thanks.
