Is the i7 4790k a better choice than an i7 6700k?

Better question is if you want to move to completely new platform? I went with 4790K because it was $100 less than 6700K microcenter rocks 
Also ddr4 vs ddr3 not much of a performance boost. I run dd3@2600. Why pay premium? I would recommend 4790k and money you save invest into better VGA or cooling for your CPU, or new gaming keyboard or mouse.
