I just buy a new card. Seems like everytime I need a new one $20 gets me one twice as big as the last one. Just got 128GB on sale.
Really if your pc does not have a card slot then connect your camera and copy the files to your pc. Once done you verify all the pics are readable & copied fine. Then and Only Then do you delete the originals. I also suggest burning copies to dvd's if you have no other backups
