Hello everyone I plan on starting to buy the parts to my first pc build.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7K7KCJ

CPU: Intel I5 6600k
Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 gb
Mobo: Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero
HDD1: Samsung 850 Evo 500 gb
HDD2: Seagate 2 tb 7200 RPM Hybrid Drive
PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 750w
GPU: MSI GTX 980 TI Golden Edition
Optical: LG Blu Ray Drive
Case: Fractal Design Define R5

The Case comes with 2 GP-14 fractal fans one in the front intake and one in the rear as exhaust. I plan to try my hand at overclocking the CPU and possibly GPU. I know my cooler is good enough but I was wondering how many fans I would need. Ive heard good things about the stock fans fractal gives and was planning on using them. How many more fans would you recommend using if I plan to overclock? Should I stick with the stock fans or should I replace them for better ones? Also any fans you would recommend would also be appreciated. My motherboard has 4 fan headers to control them so 4 would be ideal.

I am also wondering about the best setup for the case fans (ex: 2 front intake 1 rear exhaust, 2 front intake 1 top exhaust 1 rear exhaust etc)

Thanks in advance!

In my R3 I have two intake fans and then a Corsair H80i as the output "fan" (really two), and that is enough to keep everything fairly cool with a 970 overclocked by ~10%. In your case, consider using the side vent as exhaust and the rear fan, both using noctua p12 or similar. The font fans can be the default ones, since the baffling is pretty damn good in the front and you won't be able to hear the fans too much even at constant 100%.

Unless you want to spend time figuring out how to keep low RPM positive pressure (to reduce dust buildup), consider keeping the front fans at 100% or using a profile that keeps them above 50% and ramps up to 100% quickly.

So here is my build:

So I have the little brother to yours! I moved my rear GP-14 to the front so that they would match. I took the front fan off the D15 and used it as a rear case fan hooked up to the alternate CPU PWM fan header. I have an overclock of 4.6. The 6600k stays really cool. It's not the temps that limit the overclock, it's the voltage that you are comfortable with. A much lesser cooler would have been fine in retrospect. If you want to keep both fans on the D15, add a Noctua A14 PWM or P14s Redux to the rear case. Don't add top or side fans if you want to keep the case quiet.
