i just bought a new 250 GB SATA Hard Drive of Western Digital. Its a 7200rpm drive. It was running fine for sometimes, but I am having issues with it now. It runs my movies with no problem as well as games. But when i try to copy or move some file from another drive(2nd internal drive in which I have Windows installed or any Removable drive) in it, It stops responding. I can hear the sound of my drive stop spinning and all of a sudden it disappears from My Computer. After rebooting my PC it reappears but with same issues. It also appears on the BIOS. My other Drive is running fine. Any help would be appreciated

Hey there, osamasam_3101995.

Sorry to hear about the problems you are experiencing with your HDD.
Basically both @dudeman509 and @Aragorn have given you pretty good suggestions. First backup any important data which you might have, just to be on the safe side. After that try the drive with a different computer (preferably) or at least with a different SATA port and different cables (as already suggested). If neither of the suggestions work for you, download DLG (Data Lifeguard) and run both tests (Quick and Extended), to see if anything out of the ordinary pops-up. Here's how to do that How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows.

Please keep us posted.
