Hi,

I have a Bell Sagemcom router/modem and i cannot setup any schedules or control the internet time of both of my kids.

At the moment, i have an unused dlink router (dir-815) which i setup as cascading (lan to lan) and setup a static IP (192.168.0.2), the Bell router (192.168.0.1) is DHCP enabled while the second router (dlink) is not.

While the network and internet is working fine with this setup, it is also making the access control/schedules etc.. on the second router useless.

What i would like is to use the features of the second router to setup curfews and prevent some domains to be accessed (roblox especially).

would you have any recommendation on a setup that would allow me to do that ?

hardware :
Sagemcom Connection Hub Firmware FAST2864_v68512
DLINK DIR-815 B1 Firmware 2.07

Network has about 15 devices which are mostly WIFI

(I got an extra dlink NIC in case it could be used ?)

thanks !

The following link should be for the Sagecom modem/router manual:

http://setuprouter.com/router/sagem/fast-2864/manuals.htm

Basically disable the wireless settings and then use the other tabs/options to make the modem just a pass through to the router.

The manual is quite skimpy. Could be that you had problems due to the IP addresses involved.

However, poke around a bit more and see what else you can figure out. I will take another look at things as time permits.

If the Dlink (second router) has the features you desire then make it the primary router.

ISP ----->Bell Sagecom (DHCP etc. off/disabled, modem only) -------> DLink (DHCP, QoS, white/blacklists etc.) --------> devices (wired and wireless).

If the kids have separate PC's or are separate users on the same PC you should also be able to establish some parental controls via Windows. There are a variety of such options and even third party applications to help do so. What Windows versions are you using?

thanks for the reply, the problem is that i wasnt able to turn off network the network on the modem and just select modem only. I can disable DHCP but then everything goes out of control, even though i enable on router 2.

I currently have K9 on my 7yo daughter but that was installed recently. i caught her using someone elses roblox account (which isnt the one where i have parenting on) and that scared the *bleep* out of me...
