Use is gaming but there's no GPU so I'm assuming this is either an APU build, given the CPU choice, or you'll add a GPU on later and this is a base.

Let's establish one thing first: They all offer at least 2 DIMMs, at least 32GB RAM support, at least 4 SATA 3.0 ports, and a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. If your needs are more than that, then only the FM2A88 PRO3+ would suffice, as it offers 4 DIMMs, 64GB support, and 8 SATA 3.0 ports. Though still, one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot -- micro ATX will have that limitation.

The A88 chipset is newer, so it's clearly the first choice. Between the other two they're both A68 chipsets and have similar specs for the most part. The FM2A68M HD+ offers triple monitor support and HDMI output, so if you want either of those then that's going to have an edge over the FM2A68M DG3+.

Also, ASRock has a motherboard comparison tool: http://www.asrock.com/mb/compare.asp?SelectedModel=FM2A88M+Pro3%2B&SelectedModel=FM2A68M-DG3%2B&SelectedModel=FM2A68M-HD%2B

This isn't a fully updated parts list, I do have dual channel memory. He won't be using a GPU, just the integrated APU graphics for gaming. The only issue is that with the CPU it says the motherboard might need a BIOS update with some a88x chipsets, and I don't know how to do that?
