Lenovo Y700 - access to BIOS?

My brother is an expert in filling his computer with viruses. One week ago it I cleaned it, today he came back with it, containing dozens of super awesome clean up and boost utilities along with a selection of search engines and random pop-up advertisements.

I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium once, deleted approximately 3000 harmful files. Restarted the computer, and did another run, deleting 3000 more.

It seems there is no way of cleaning it properly without reformatting the computer, but this is a Lenovo Y700. Lenovo is known for its rubbish bloatware which includes replacing the boot screen and makes it nearly impossible to enter BIOS.

I checked their website and found this document describing how to enter BIOS on each of their models: https://support.lenovo.com/no/nn/documents/ht036045.

"Pressing CTRL+ALT+INS when the cursor moves over to the upper right hand side of the screen right after the memory count." What do I do? How doI do it? When do I do it? It says NOTHING. The most informative document ever.

PLEASE help!

Not sure where you got the CTRL-INS thing from, but that seems to refer to a (much) older product line. On my Flex 2 it's just the case of pressing F2 at boot - I'm wondering whether you have the stupid option enabled in the BIOS that replaces the function keys with the media shortcuts.
In either case grab a USB keyboard, plug it in, and press F2 at boot. No luck? Try all the F-keys and DEL / ESC.

As for the lenovo bloatware, just download Windows 10 from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 and use the tool to create install media - clean Windows 10 without bloatware direct from MS

The CTRL-INS thing is from the link I provided in my initial post. But there is no key labeled "INS" on the laptop..

I have tried F2, F8 and and Delete. Those are the most common keys that I know of. None seemed to work. If only I was able to deactivate all Lenovo related features...

EDIT: I want to gain access to BIOS in order to change the boot priority order, in case you were wondering. If there any other solutions (i.e. third party softwar) that could help, please let me know.

Try holding FN while pressing F2 / other function keys. My Lenovo requires this as otherwise they act as media keys.

Otherwise, download EasyBCD Community Edition onto the laptop, choose Add New Entry, Windows, then select your USB. Save Settings, Edit Boot Menu, Save Settings, reboot, and select you USB.

Otherwise just plug it in, run setup.exe from Windows, and choose to keep no data.

I hope by "Remove WAT" you aren't referring to cracking / piracy which isn't supported here.
If you need a legit copy, upgrade the current install to Win10 then clean install it. Will be legal assuming your current OS is

Okay, I have an issue. As I did not find out how to enter BIOS to change my boot priority, I figured I would plug in my memory stick while logged in and see if I was able to start the installer and reboot from there. The executable file started, showing me the options (install, repair etc., the usual for an OS disk). I do not remember which of the choices I selected, but I received an error message right after. I gave up and shut down the laptop. Upon restarting it a bit later, the screen did not even light up. The keyboard lits up, fans are spinning, the laptop is obviously running. But the screen remains black. Could this be caused by one of the many viruses that infected the machine? Are viruses able to cut signals like that?

That was my brother's wish. I will edit my original post to better fit this forum's policies regarding piracy. I was not aware of this, although it should be obvious. Sorry.

No, they're not. No screen output at all? That sounds like a hardware failure.
If you see the Lenovo logo or anything then it's software, so do you see anything on the screen at all after power-on?

No. Nothing. No output whatsoever. Not even backlight. I figured it'd be hardware failure myself, but it just seems so odd that it would happen right after that. What a coincidence...

If this is a Lenovo Ideapad Y700, try pressing FN+F2 to re-enable the display. To access the BIOS, take a paperclip and press the onekey recovery button on the left side of the computer next to the headphone jack and USB ports while the computer is powered off. This will bring you to a menu where you can access the BIOS.
