Hey guys thanks for taking the time to help us out, my friend is looking at building his first gaming pc and his budget is $1000. He doesn't plan on overclocking and plans on using the PC for Gaming and College, so he wanted to find out what would be the best build for the money. If you guys could throw out some recommendations that would be greatly appreciated!

I managed to build a system with
-GTX 980 GPU
-i7 6-core processor
-2x 16GB RAM
-Sli capable motherboard
-600w power supply
-liquid cooler
for around $1600
So maybe get an Nvidia 750 Ti, and get a fan cooled processor, that shoould be about $1000 there, hope it helps and good luck!

This is an awkward time to build a pc, with the new generation gpu's around the corner.
Your options are this - Wait for new gpu's or get a medium-end card for now and upgrade to pascal later.
Will he need a monitor?
