Hey guys, I'm considering getting an ASRock H81M-HDS LGA 1150 mATX Intel Motherboard to upgrade my PC. I was wondering if the Intel Core i5 4690K was compatible with this mobo, and my second question is if a 400-watt PSU is powerful enough to support this motherboard.

Solution
Per the CPU Support List, with BIOS version P1.60, the Intel Core I5-4690K is supported. There shouldn't be any change in power consumption between your old motherboard and new. 400 Watts should be enough for that processor and a lower-end graphics card.

While it might be supported (as in the system will POST and boot), will -overclocking- be supported on that one? I was under the impression that H-series overclocking was not supported in spite of him having an unlocked multiplier - as in Intel restricts overclocking to Z-series boards.

I'm not the overclocking expert, but from what I've read, previously on these forums, the H-Series is not the board you want if you intend to overclock. You want to be looking at the Z87/Z97 series boards for overclocking that processor.

To my knowledge, all motherboards have a battery installed for CMOS:

In nearly 20 years of system builds, I've never needed to replace one.
