Hello:
This is a headache to me.
I have a NAS sitting in my basement (not connected) for sometime because I have no real use of it.
Now I really need to backup and share lots of photos and files.
I replaced the NAS on-board backup battery and installed a new 3TB Seagate hard drive to the NAS.
There are a few problems that I am having with the NAS.
1. It can be connected to my PC via local network but I am unable to update the NAS firmware because it cannot detect the hard drive
2. I took out the hard drive and connect it to my PC via adapter but my PC only see 745gb on my 3TB hard drive. I have tried different ways to config the hard drive but it still showing 745gb.
3. I also tried to download Intel RST driver to my PC but it will need minimum .net framework 4.5 to complete the Intel RST driver install. but I am unable to download the .net Framework 4.5 even at Microsoft website. Intel RST driver is to be used for configuring hard drive volume larger than 2TB.

I am stuck in this situation and I would appreciate if anyone can help.
Model of NAS: Lenovo EMC ix4-300d
Model of 3TB hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA3

Thank you.

Solution
I had a problem updating .NET Framework and the only way I could get it to work was to delete all .NET FRAMEWORK off then try to install the new version. But that was for my PC and may not work for your situation.

I'm using a ASUSTOR NAS dual bay with HDMI out to my TV and I'm running 2TB on w/o any issue.
Well there could be a number of reasons for your issue.

1. If it is a very old NAS it may not support a 3TB drive.
Your NAS is rated up to a 4TB model so I don't think that is the case.
2. It could be the drive is defective there was a lot about people having issues with 3 TB hard drives.
3. Have you checked to see if there are any partitions on it and if there is any free space? Perhaps there is a active partition of 745GB on it and the rest of the space in unallocated did you see any unallocated space?

I already clean the disk. I have read some complaints that people are having same issues with hard drive over 2TB and two users had the same problem as me. Their hard drives only have 745GB accessible. One user claimed that he has the solution and that is the Intel RST driver. That would go back to my original post. I cannot download and install Intel RST driver due to lack of ,net framework 4.5

First off the reason why you only see 745GB is because it is more than likely setup as a MBR Disk (Shame on you Popatim for not seeing that XD)

First we need to clean the disk again (Diskpart - List Disk - Select disk X - Clean) then go into disk management. It will want to initilize the disk. SELECT GPT NOT MBR!

Then try toss it back in there.

The only info I could find on his unit says that it supports up to 4TB drives. Can you post a picture or find the model on manufacture home page so we know it is the correct one? How many bays is it?
