Which brand of hard drive is used in LaCie Porsche Design Desktop Drive?

I have just purchased a LaCie Porsche Design 2TB 2.5" external drive for a friend because the price was right and they seem to have a good reputation. What I can't seem to find out about these drives is which vendor supplies the hard drive it's self inside the case...?... It's a little hard to make a judgement on the quality without that info. Doesn't matter a great deal as the drive will be used, however it would be worth knowing particularly if the drive fails in the future and needed recovery.

You could always buy your own hard drive enclosure & an internal hard drive to put in it - - then you'd be able to choose whichever brand of internal hard drive you trust the most or have seen the best reviews for.

You would also be able to easily remove the drive if necessary (ie to replace it), which is quite a mission to accomplish on most ready-made external hard drives.

Nope... Just shows USB attached storage... hence my question... Lacie also do not advertise the actual drive type.

Drive is already bought. Don't want to open it as is for a frined and is brand new... Just interested to know drive manufacturer.
