Right now i am on a Lenovo G70-80
I5-5200u
8gb ram
and a disappointing
1TB 5400rpm HDD

i only have enough money to buy ether a 250gb ssd or 16gb of ram.
I want to do more gaming, which should i choose?

Solution

you will not benefit in gaming performance with either of the upgrades. Games use nowhere near 8 GB in the first place. SSD speeds up your boot up time and map loading time which doesn't affect your fps.

If you had to choose the SSD would be the superior choice since it will atleast let you boot your games a bit faster.

What speed is your ram?Go with the fastest ram possible looks like ram helps alot with newer games i would go with 2x8 gb ram sticks if you can and get the fastest your board will support this article here is eye opening ram is helping more now then every before in fallout 4 1333 mhz ram vs 2400 mhz ran the 2400 mhz ram is faster by 67% as far as fps goes. http://www.techspot.com/review/1089-fallout-4-benchmarks/page6.html
