SWITCH: home LAN with two routers and four switches get clogged with traffic that I do not initiate. Sometimes high traffic from two Buffalo NAS and other devices not even being user accessed. Looking at using managed switches to solve by limiting some devices bandwidth.

Need recommendations for switch model number to use and how to setup.
Plan to use 4 or 5 port switches to then set up a tree to help direct high data flow only where needed. Tree sub branches would be an standard unmanaged switch.

Switch manufacturers do not talk much about fabric speed.
How do I to determine what the switch will support?
Is this the best way?
Managed Switches model recommended?

TIA

Unless there is A LOT of broadcast traffic, only two ports on a switch see a specific flow of data.

What evidence do you see that your network is "clogged" ?? Are all your switches gigabit? Are your cables quality? You may think you have a problem or you may have a real problem. Not enough info to determine that.
