Okay my brother is not to computer smart he bought me a used laptop from a yard sale and gave it to me when I got home so I already noticed that the laptop has a few problems when it wouldn't come on without the charging cable which owner was so kind enough to sell along with the laptop.

But I've noticed that there's a "Enter Current Password" on this thing. I don't know what my brother was thinking when he gave it to me not that the thought wasn't appreciated but still how can I use a laptop that I can't login to?

Is there a way for me to reset this thing?

For any used PC or laptop, the very first thing you need to do is wipe and install a new OS.
If the original owners do not give you the install media and license key for the Windows OS, then you need to provide that yourself.

As it is, you just received a little box of hardware, not a fully usable PC.
Buy a Windows OS for it, or use Linux.

Ok, make sure the PC is plugged in and remains plugged in for the duration. If the power cord gets knocked out mid-recovery you might brick the laptop.

1. Turn the PC completely off
2. Turn it on and start pressing ALT + F10 (I think this is the right key combo)
3. This should take you to the Windows 8 (assuming win 8) recovery menu, select troubleshoot
4. Select reset your PC
5. Follow the rest of the prompts, and tell the PC to remove existing files

Wait for ~1hr and it should be done.

Yes it is a Windows 8 and the key it's not working I turned it on and off but the moment I press these two keys either at the same time or one by one it fly straight back to that same page asking for current password.

Do you need more information on this model that I have?

You need to look up the exact model number, find the user manual, and find the exact key combination to invoke the Factory Reset function.

If that does not work, that partition may not exist anymore. In which case, you need to get your own OS, and wipe the whole drive.

So sorry for the late reply a family emergency occurred so I had to leave the computer.
But now that I have returned I have tried this as well and the login screen never appears I only get the logo of the laptop and then that screen pops up again "enter current password".

Bottom line - Either learn the password. Or learn the key combo to invoke the Factory recovery partion that may or may not exist. Or wipe the drive and install your own OS.

We cannot assist getting into that existing password.
But for a used device, you really, really need to wipe and reinstall. For your protection as well as theirs.

Well thank you all of you for all your help I will do as you say and look up the manual for this particular laptop and find the key so that I can Force reset if that does not work I will simply take it to Geek Squad and explain my situation with them and see if they can clean off the laptop for me to be honest this thing doesn't even have a CD port.

But thank you again for all your help all of you.
