everything is the same except I replaced psu to Corsair CX600
18gb ram
two seagate 3tb hdds
Just upgraded to XFX r9 380x 4gb from a gtx 660 ftw 3gb.
New gpu drivers from yesterday

Ok, since I upgraded my gpu to the 380x on friday, I have been seeing diminished performance in some games, and greatly increase performance in some games. I figured lower performance in some games would just be due to them not being too optimized for amd gpus. GTA V's performance dropped off, but not much. During gaming I'm using HW monitor to monitor temps, and they are not going up to 70c even.

Today, I tested Battlefield 4 on high settings. For some reason it would freeze for like 5-10 seconds, like every 10 seconds or so. It was an unplayable mess. I lowered settings, and when I shot my gun off in the middle of a firefight, the system just locked up, and I had to do a hard restart. I then tried Fallout 4, on medium settings just to test. Same thing, game freezes up for a few seconds, and my guy is killed in the interim. Then I shoot my shotgun, and bam, another lock up.

So, can someone help me with finding out what the hell is wrong with my rig? I've used 3 different sets of drivers, the newest, and the two before it, and I get the same problem in both of these games.

Solution
Think I solved it. I used driverbooster 3, and I had a few drivers that needed updating. A sound card driver was one of them. I tried F04 after installing the drivers, and rebooting, and it was fine on ultra, where it had crashed before on lowest settings.

Looked into event viewer, I got the event ID 41 Kernel power one. Before I upgraded to my current psu, I had one that was not good enough for my gtx 660, the system would just shut off, as if I had pulled the plug. Thats not what is happening this time. It's locking up completely though. It's only in these two games. I play other demanding ones, like Dying Light maxed, Rise of The Tomb Raider really high, The witcher and the division high as well. It's weird, in Fallout 4, it happens only whenever I perform an action like bring out weapon, open pip boy etc.

I used Who crashed, and this is what it said:
On Tue 3/29/2016 3:03:43 AM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: Unknown (0xFFFFF800A263FEE9)
Bugcheck code: 0xD1 (0x0, 0x7, 0x0, 0xFFFFF800A263FEE9)
Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error.
Google query: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Can someone clarify what this could be? I reverted to the last drivers from amd, and while Fallout 4 didnt crash again when I tested it a minute ago, it was doing the same sluggish things it was doing before.

I deleted all of the drivers using DDU before installing the new card. I put malwarebytes free onto my computer, along with CCcleaner in the last two days. Should I uninstall these and see if it remedies the problem? Its weird, because whocrashed is saying its not likely a hardware failure, more likely a driver error. I went through each device in device manager to check if all the drivers are up to date, all were. I'm running SFC scannow at the moment.

i dunno drivers problem. if tou have AMD card and try install a nvidia card you will have some issues. but not with nvidia and install a amd card. i think its some config of the game. try find some default graphics on that games you have problem.
