I want to install 2-2TB HDD's to my K9A2 CF mainboaord
In RAID 1 configuration

Will the MB accept them?
BIOS update required?

If not what is the max HDD size.
Thanks All.

Thats an old board, without UEFI. If they are going to be primary drives the max size is 2.2 TB that you can format as MBR. if you're using them as secondary drives you could buy bigger drives and format them as GPT. if you do not use GPT for drives bigger than 2.2 TB you won't be able to access that space.

As for RAID the board supports it through the hardware, but to make your life easier if you are using windows you can use Storage Spaces in Windows 8.1 or 10 and set up a drive mirror which will do the same exact thing as RAID 1 but you can monitor it through Windows. Its easier and just as reliable.

Thanks for the info, greatly appreciated.
My thought, which I should have explained with more details is to use the MB as a server/nas with Fedora and Amahi with the RAID 1, 2- 2TB HD's.
So the 2.2TB limit should allow the installation as planned... computer gods willing.

Ok that should work fine, make sure to set them as RAID in the BIOS then when the RAID controller screen shows at startup press Ctrl-I to set it up.
