hello

so, in my custom built gaming PC. i recently did the socket LGA 775 to LGA 771 mod using an xeon x5460. and there's been a MAJOR improvement in FPS. but the only problem is, the CPU runs idle at 70c. and during gaming it goes up to 80c to 90c. and im using intel's crappy stock cooler that originally came with a core 2 duo e4700.

but. i have an old compaq presario PC in my basement that uses the same LGA 775 socket. i noticed that it has a pretty big CPU fan. its heavier than my intel stock cooler. its an ASUS CPU fan. i want to install it into my gaming PC. but it uses the screw mounts instead of the clip mounts. is there anyway i can remove the screws and install clips? i would buy a new CPU cooler, like the coolermaster hyper 212. but my rosewill FBM-01 case is simply too small for that. and plus, every good CPU cooler ive seen is 30 dollars and up. thats too much for me right now, so i need a temporary solution. can anyone help?

Solution
You can't modify that cooler to work, you are going to need to spend a few dollars and get one. You don't need a 212 EVO, you can get the Hyper T2 for $20 will work fine for you.
