I am a penetration tester ("White hat hacker") working on my laptop, and for a while, every tool was working fine. However, recently, some of my tools (JumpStart and Reaver) have not been able to communicate to my wireless adapters. When I start JumpStart, it says "Unable to communicate with any wireless adapters." When I restart my built-in adapter, it doesn't work. When I restart my USB adapter, doesn't work. When I do airmon-ng on Kali Linux, it says something about "ieee80211" and when I use Reaver for Linux, it says the same thing JumpStart does. My career depends on me fixing this. Please get back to me. Thanks.

Toms is a geared towards a generic help forum for linux newbies. Per Kali Linux documentation:
Kali is a Linux distribution specifically geared towards professional penetration testers and security specialists, and given its unique nature, it is NOT a recommended distribution if you’re unfamiliar with Linux

Currently you have provided zero useful information. How can anyone help without system info/logs, program/system/kernel error messages, and hardware info? You need to be able to provide some debugging info.

Maybe it is a known bug with your particular hardware. Maybe you have found a unique bug that needs to be reported. Maybe something...

I don't mean to be rude but if your career really depends on this then you NEED to be able to do basic linux related trouble shooting by your self or else consider a different line of work. You also need to be able to use google effeciently. You cannot just go about saying vaguely 'this does not work' and expect anyone to know why. Don't even know what wireless adapter you have!

If you want further help suggest you post in the Kali forum or on their IRC channel.

I don't mean to be rude, but why don't you search the problem yourself on Google before talking out the hole. I tried google and nothing that matched my problem showed up.

There is one rude person, and for sure it's not Skittle (if you checked his posts and answers, you would see that he/she knows what he's talking). The advice was to ask for help on Kali forums for your specific problem. Skittle is experienced enough in Linux to be able to solve basic networking problem by him/herself.

When one has problem with USB stuff, he/she usually starts with "lsusb", "ifconfig" etc, not with high-level tools.Moving your adapter to different USB port / connecting it thru powered USB hub could also help.

If these commands mean nothing to you - find something else to do.

If he/she was skilled enough to help fix it but DIDN'T, then they clearly don't belong in a computer help forum.

Anyway you will get better help for specific issues like these in the Kali IRC channel and Kali forum.
