I just moved to my new home and I have this very frustrating internet problem. I wanted to have a DSL connection but the agent told me its not possible on my location. I am 700 ft or 213 meters away from their lines. The internet guy told me it's too far. I don't want the LTE or wireless option either.

I have this solution on my head which I think (don't think) would be possible. Please suggest or add more info guys.. Please..

Solution 1:

Scenario: A close neighbor is near their lines. I would have my dsl installed on their home

Option1: I get connected through a UTP cable from the router to my home. About 600 ft or 182 meters from my home. Is that possible? if so please please tell me how? or is that it? just get UTP cable and done.

Problem with option1: i searched that UTP cable is only good for 100 meters.

Option2: Get a high gain wifi antenna and acquire their WIFI and get connected. (doubt this high gain wifi antenna stuff though)

Please please guys.. Needed this very badly... I am working online and this is very important to me.

thank you!

Fiber is you best option...you could run it at 10g if you could afford the end devices. I just hate digging.

Pretty much you buy 2 small switches that convert copper ethernet to fiber optic. The dedicated ones are simple 2 ports switches with 1 copper port and 1 optical port. You then just run a fiber between. It is mostly just a matter of buying the fiber and very carefully running it though the conduit. If you were going more distance you would use fiber that did not have ends on it and you would have to terminate it yourself which need some specialized expensive tools. Although the premade fiber patch cables are not really designed to be pulled though conduit they work if you are very careful, fiber is still glass so it...
If you have clear line of sight you can use outdoor wireless bridge device from companies like ubiquiti or engenous. These are best mounted as high as you can get to avoid any intermittent blockages by something like a big truck parked in a driveway. It will not work if there are other building or trees between...unless you go above them.

The problem with running any form of cable is getting the cable buried or somehow protected for that distance. The costs to install conduit is much more than the cable you are running inside. You are correct there is a 100meter limitation for UTP but you can use fiber with relatively inexpensive media converters.

thank you so much for your response.

big problem there are trees between my neighbor and me but I can go above those trees if i get my high gain antenna on a very tall steel pole or something like that. Is that okay? I'm worried about the signal.

I don't mind the cost as long as i have stable internet connection. Please tell me how this fiber thing works. I wouldn't mind searching but it would be great to ask someone who knew it already.

You don't even need really high gain equipment to go 200meters. Things like ubiquiti nanostation line can go more than 10km. They have larger units that will go farther. You can mount them on a metal pipe if you can get it up that high. It just depends if you can get something that does not move around too much in high wind. You would just hook the bridge units at the top and run a ethernet cable inside to the router or pc. Power is provided over the ethernet to the bridge so you need nothing special outside.

More than likely the wireless bridge option is going to be cheaper and simpler....assuming you are not talking going 50ft up. Since you are only hooking it to a dsl internet connection on the far end the higher speed of a fiber is not as much of a concern. The wireless option should be able to exceed the speed of any dsl connection.

Solution
As long as the trees don't block them they will work fine. Now if your city allows it that is a different question. Also unless you use guy wires a you will be limited on how long of a steel pole you can do. You can get 40ft 4 inch steel drill pipe but its not like you can get that home. You can easily do 10ft pipe on the roof of the houses without much difficulty.

[UPDATE]

I just found out the best solution for this problem!... Folks with the same situation please read carefully!

UBIQUITI NANOSTATION M2/M5 is the answer for long range WIFI bridge connection!

Use Nanostation m2/m5 for like up to 5KM good signal.
Use Litebeam for longer range. There are even Device that can go up to 30KM! search youtube folks.

Use this diagram with situation...
