I bought a Blank HDD for my laptop. Error say "Must install OS before booting." I put Linux on a USB Stick and made it bootable but I cant tell Bios to boot from the USB Stick. The error message pops up before the Bios Screen. Can I temporarily put the blank HDD in my desktop, install windows on it and then put it in the laptop? Thanking you in advance. Larry

"Can I temporarily put the blank HDD in my desktop, install windows on it and then put it in the laptop?"

It's physically possible to do that but you'd be wasting your time as Windows won't run when it's moved to completely different hardware.

You have to install Windows on the same computer you want to use it on.

The error "Must install OS before booting" shows that your laptop is still trying to boot from the blank hard drive.
You need to bring up the "one time" Boot Device Menu on your laptop, highlight USB, then press the <Enter> key.
