Hi,

I need help choosing best three motherboards for "AMD Athlon 64 X 2 ADA6000IAA6CZ".
Please also note that I have a lot of 1GB DDR1 memory to use with this CPU, and I heard that some motherboard can use more that 4 sticks of 1GB DDR1 memory.

I am thinking that these three motherboards should be able to use this CPU as a minimum, so that I would be able to change my CPU to a higher one later.

Please help me rank these three motherboards as #1, #2, and #3.

I want to be able to assemble these components to be a gaming PC.

Thanks so much.

If by gaming PC you mean one to play older games then you're fine, but that processor will not handle anything new.

I can only find 1 motherboard that will work with that processor:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157581&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=AM2_motherboard-_-13-157-581-_-Product

It has 4 memory slots, there are no boards for that processor (or any consumer AMD for that matter) that hold more than 4 DIMMS.

The best you could do with that board in the future is update the processor to an AMD FX-8320E (very important the E version is 95W so will work with this board, the regular 8320 will not work), which is an older CPU but still does the job. That would make a better Gaming PC.

Please don't. That's a dual core AMD CPU from 2007 based on Socket 940.

What I mean is any board you could get would be used from eBay, etc., and you don't really get much of a choice -- it just depends on what is available. In order to even use such a system you'd need a GPU and quite frankly any GPU that could handle games would be held back by that CPU. It's particularly unwise since the used boards aren't necessarily cheap and an entry level CPU + motherboard exists at the $150 level with memory.

There's a difference between using an old system like that for some purpose - a NAS server or router, for example - and actively putting money into it. If you just wanted to play around with something you had lying around that's one thing, but do not consider this anything but ancient pointless technology.

That said, if you want to find a board you know now that you're looking for a Socket 940 board from a used motherboard seller that accepts DDR1 memory.

Actually, the socket for "AMD Athlon 64 X 2 ADA6000IAA6CZ" CPU is AM2. I pulled all the parts out from Dell Dimension E521. It has DDR1 memory on it.
I believe the motherboard that you mentioned can only use DDR2 or DDR3 memory, but you point me to the right direction.

I googled a bit, and many people mentioned that AM2 motherboards only support DDR2 or DDR3 memory, but my Dell Dimension E521 definitely uses DDR1 memory.

I hope you can guide me some direction. I want to be able to use DDR1 memory again.

Right.

There are no DDR1 memory based boards left in production. Not only that even if there was you do not want to buy one if you ever want to have hope of upgrading someday.

At this point you're using ancient equipment, The only place you will find a replacement board is used, and TBH unless you get the board I mentioned your money is better spent elsewhere.

Memory for Dell Dimension E521 is DDR2.

Your processor uses DDR2-800.

DDR2 was phased out in 2009 in favor of DDR3.
ASRock N68C-GS4 FX uses either:
• DDR3 1600/1333/1066 non-ECC, un-buffered
• DDR2 1066/800/667/533 non-ECC, un-buffered

You might try looking on eBay for DDR2 motherboard models from the 2009 era.
